BCFSN was able to expand their food-value chain beyond the Mid-Atlantic by connecting Black farmers and churches from New York to Florida under a new name - The A.R.C. Project (Assembling Our Resources for Community Sustainability). BCFSN formalized a partnership with the Balm In Gilead organization which for the past 35 years has focused on issues of health in the African American community. Their partnership with this organization instantly expanded their reach, developed additional partners as well, ensured the realization of the desired outcomes of a food supply chain connecting both rural and urban communities in different regions of the country. BCFSN’s network expands over 190 churches across the U.S.
Support from the Thrivent Charitable Health & Human Services Impact Fund and generous gifts from our donors help make this possible. For Impact Funds, Thrivent Charitable conducts an invitation-based grantmaking process. For more information visit our
